Facts about Sylvie

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Black & White Or Tuxedo
  • Age: Young
  • Sex: Female
  • ID#: A39A2
  • Hair: Short
Sylvie is a sweet girl, who loves to sit with her human and will even sometimes sit in your lap. She doesn't mind being picked up once she trusts you and loves to be pet. She is a little too skittish around strangers for traditional adoption events or pet store display. She needs a patient adopter, who will accept that forming a bond with a former feral cat will be a process that takes several weeks and baby steps. Once trust is established, this bond will be a strong one and she will be your forever companion. The bond between a former feral and a human they decide to trust is one of the strongest most beautiful bonds between animal and human. Typicaly, former ferals will bond to all members of the household, but there is always one person to whom they are most strongly bonded. She may warm to friends/family who routinely visit, but will probably always hide from strangers. She will grow to love affection from her trusted humans, being pet, and sometimes even snuggling, and be handlable enough for vet visits, but will never be a fan of being held or carried around. She will enjoy places to hide and high perches and cat trees to feel most safe. Former ferals are very low maintenance and tolerate long absences and vacations well. If you are looking for an instant cuddle pal or a super playful cat who will be fun to interact with right away, this is not the cat for you. But if you want a low maintenance pet who is not demanding of your time or energy, but is a companion to be nearby, Sylvie could be perfect for you. Also, you truly will be saving the life of a cat who most likely would have otherwise died of disease, exposure, or accident outside. Sylvie is a fun cat, who will enjoy playing in her new home with mice, balls, and other toys. Her adoption fee is only $50, because she is an adult cat and we have a harder time finding homes for them. This can be paid in cash, via paypal, or via direct donation to the spay/neuter clinic we use.

About Billy the Kidden Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

The mission of Billy the Kidden Rescue is to improve the lives of displaced cats and kittens, and reduce feral cat populations in Hampton Roads, by socializing outdoor-born and unwanted kittens for adoption into forever homes.
We specialize in TNR (Trap/Neuter/Return) and feral kitten socialization. We provide "working cats" to farms, barns, breweries, warehouses, vineyards, and other places. We also help with lost cats and kittens, long term fostering, SELECT rehoming situations, cat behavioral and nutritional advice, and infant kitten rescue.

Donate to Our Rescue Group...

Donations can be made to the Billy the Kidden Rescue spay/neuter account at either No More Chasin Tails in Newport News (757-255-8804) or our general Billy the Kidden Rescue veterinary account at Acredale Animal Hospital (757-523-6100) or by paypalling us at or can be sent via mail to Billy the Kidden Rescue, PO BOX 16919, Chesapeake, VA 23328.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our pets are available for Meet and Greets at their various fosters homes or at our cattery at Pups n Stuff in Virginia Beach for fosters who do not show animals in their home. Appointments must be scheduled in advance and a Board Member must approve all adoptions.
At Pups n Stuff, you can come see some of our ready to go adoptables. It is at 4330 Holland Rd. in Virginia Beach. The Store hours are Tu-Sat 12:00 - 8:00pm and Sundays 12:00 - 6:00pm Closed on Mondays. We do not have cattery staff on hand during all business hours. However if you let us know you are going we can be sure a staff member is there to meet you, so you can go in the cattery and play with the kitties! If you do go during a time when we aren't there you can look at the kitties through the window and pick up some of our information, but will have to come back actually play with them. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Our Adoption Process...

We have an adoption questionnaire to learn a bit about the home our rescue animals will be going to and the family's motivation for adoption and expectations about pet ownership. We also have an adoption contract, which includes a no declawing and indoor only clause. Our adoption fees range from $25 to $130, depending on vetting costs. Our Career Cat adoption fee is $25. Our adoption fee for adults, vetted rehoming cases, special needs, and kittens over 6 months is usually $50- $75. Most kittens have an adiption fee of $100 if not microchipped and $130 if microchipped. Sometimes we require rental checks or home inspections. We always have a Meet n Greet to make sure everyone gets along. We encourage bringing the whole family, especially the furry members.
