Baron Bavaria's Story...
This itty bitty fellow is Baron Bavaria. A Good Samaritan recently found Baron wandering all alone. He had no tags and was scanned for a microchip, but there was none. Attempts to locate an owner came up with nothing. His is finder was unable to keep him, so she reached out to DREAM. Because it's what we do, we were happy to accept little Baron into our program. According to our veterinarian, he's about 3 years old and a bit under weight at just 9.2 lbs. Sadly he is heartworm positive, but with time, treatment and plenty of attention, he'll get through it and come out a healthy, happy Dachsie with the 2nd chance at life and love he so deserves!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Baron Bavaria, a Houston Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Houston, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
