Rocky here and like the guy in the movie, I am a real go-getter and little fighter. I am affectionate, yet I can be a guarder. If I'm on the couch or a doggy bed, I don't "love" to be touched. If you understand Chihuahuas that act like me, then you'll understand this behavior. I'm not bad, I just get scared and act up. I'm doing better but, whoever adopts me knows has to know about guys like me and can put up with and manage this behavior. I really am a love-bug most of the time. I am anxious for a place where I can be heaped with love and understanding. Please consider giving me a place in your heart and home?

Chihuahua Rescue Says: Rocky and several of his doggy siblings have landed with Chihuahua Rescue as a result of his person needing to reduce the number of pets in their home. All the pets are pretty friendly. All needed socialization and learning about how to be good indoor pets, house manners, eating a good diet, etc. They all received overdue vet care and are were introduced to going outdoors as well. Rocky can only be adopted to a home that will take him to an animal behaviorist for ongoing training for his guarding issues.

About Chihuahua Rescue Indiana- Indianapolis Chapter

About Our Rescue Group...

Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. is a non profit, all volunteer rescue working with Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. The pets are housed in individual volunteer foster homes, not kennels or shelters until they are adopted permanently. We get to know our animals and therefore can tell the potential adopter what the traits of the animal are and what home would be the best for the pet. We are dedicated to the adoption, education, rescue and transportation of the Chihuahua breed. We believe that every Chihuahua deserves a loving home.

Donate to Our Rescue Group...

Donations are up to the individual and are made to a not for profit organization.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We hold adoption events at local Petsmarts, Pet Supply Plus, and Petcos. The dates are fluid and they do coincide with the nationally advertised adoption events at the locales.

Our Adoption Process...

**If you are unable to pay the adoption fee, we are unable to place a dog in your care. Being unable to meet the financial obligations of pet care (recurrent or emergent) is one of many reasons why so many of these pets end up in rescue. It's not lack of love.**
We require an adoption inquiry, and then we will check references. We also check with vets. If the person is not LOCAL then we will partner with a local animal control or Humane Society to do a home visit and give us the go ahead to adopt.
There are adoption fees associated with the costs of veterinary care of the pet. We require an adoption contract to be signed to finalize the adoption process and we have an agreement that all our pets are to be Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. pets for LIFE. In other words, in the event that they can not stay in their adoptive home, they are not to be surrendered to another individual or rescue.
