My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Louis is a darling long haired Chihuahua who lost his home through no fault of his own. He is 2 years old and 7 pounds with a silky, single layer low shedding coat. Louis is a typical Chihuahua who takes a few days to bond to a new person but once he does, he will love you for life. He will do best in an adult home and might prefer to be an only dog although he is fine with cats if they like to play with dogs. Louis is house trained both to outside and puppy pads and doesn't need to be kenneled even though he likes hanging out in his kennel sometimes. He has a good appetite and loves to be cuddled. Louis sleeps in bed with foster mom and morning finds him curled up under her chin! Louis is with Happy Hound Rescue, a 501c3 all volunteer rescue and is in a foster home. His adoption fee is $250 and he is neutered, fully updated on immunizations and heartworm protection and is in excellent health.
