My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MERLIN is an 8 month old intact yellow male Lab who weighs 39 pounds. Merlin, along with Regan and Dash, were taken from their owners by a local shelter due to poor living conditions. They asked us for our help. Merlin is a sweet, but slightly timid, boy. He is being treated for demodex (not contagious) and has inflamed skin and some hair loss that should heal up fairly quickly with medication. We are
working with him on more socialization and working with him on a leash, as he has no clue what that is and is a little afraid of it but will be just fine with a little time. He must have a fenced yard and another dog in the household. Merlin was an "outdoor dog" in his previous "home". He is keeping his crate clean at the vet . Good with other dogs and would benefit from a doggy friend to give him confidence. .Merlin is approved for kids ages 10+.

Update (12/01): Merlin is so ready for his forever family! He has become so brave and fun. He loves to play and loves attention. His favorite spot is a lap! Gone is the timid, scaredy cat pup. On to bigger and better things!

Update (11/25): Merlin is still making wonderful progress. His new favorite spot is in his foster's lap! He is filling out and is up to 45 lbs! He still loves playing with the other pups the best and had even learned to retrieve. See him on YouTube: https://youtu.be/DFWjG1_U4cw

Update (11/18): Merlin cannot believe that no one has come for him! He has really filled out and his skin is all cleared up and he has learned what it means to be a fun, young lab. He is enjoying attention and belly rubs but especially loves playing in the yard with toys and with his foster siblings!
See him play tugowar on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qz9q4FH7wdI&feature=youtu.be

Update (11/14): Merlin has really started to come out of his shell with his foster family. He started playing with toys this week and is having a ball! He also has started to seek out human attention and climbs up on the couch to get love and oh what a smile this boy finally has!

NOTE: Merlin is not yet neutered and is still due some vaccines. The vets have recommended that we hold off until his skin inflammation can heal up a bit, possibly in about 2 weeks. We will have him neutered and vaccinated as soon as is medically feasible.

Update (10/22): Merlin is a pretty sweet guy! He has taken quite the liking to my blind hound - maybe because they are both special in their own ways. He has only had one boo boo in the house and just follows the lead of my herd who has recognized he needs some encouragement and lessons on being a puppy. He walks MUCH better on a harness and follows me everywhere. TOYS and SHOES are his passion....he LOVES MY SHOES! He is not real fond of men but getting better and likes my son. He hates being in his crate alone as I have learned from a few sleepless nights so last night I put him in my bedroom with me and some light music and he slept through the night! He is still jumpy at sudden movements but has figured out how to wag his tail which is whats most important considering his rough start! He has learned what toys are and the couch (even JHP shares his couch aka his throne with him!)are and is starting to enjoy the comforts of home. He still has a ways to go but with some time and patience, we will get him there!~
