Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Stubby Wubby was a bear, Stubby Wubby could not compare...OK, OK, we're not the best at rhymes and Sergeant Stubby isn't a bear but he really doesn't compare to any other pups we've met -- he is one of a kind. A one of a kind snuggler and a one of a kind goofball with a one of a kind story. Everyone who meets him agrees that his soulful eyes and velvety chocolate fur make him impossible to resist. While Stubby never lacks for love now, his life wasn’t always so promising. At only a few days old, SS was dumped at the vet as a euthanasia request. Sadly, his mom accidentally stepped on his leg, consequently degloving it, which removed the skin and left nothing but exposed tissue. The staff at the vet knew that Stubby deserved a chance to live and like we said, he is impossible to resist so we immediately committed to rescuing him. Over the next few weeks, his incredible foster mom bottle fed him, cleaned his wound and changed his bandages multiple times a day. Unfortunately, Stubby's leg became badly infected and ultimately had to be amputated at five weeks of age. Now four months old, 26lbs. and totally rocking his life as a tripod, Stubby's ability to zip around and his overall enthusiasm for life make him one amazing pup. Like most three-legged canines, Stubby has a fantastic quality of life and he’s always excited for his next adventure. Whether attending football practice with his foster mom, being an ambassador for Ruff Start and his fellow Pitbulls at CT Pitbull Awareness Day, or rough housing and subsequently snoozing with his foster siblings, Stubby has truly mastered living the good life. Sargent Stubby has been extremely well socialized and he is making great strides in his housebreaking and crate training. He is up to date on age vaccinations, microchipped and ready to find his forever home. If you are interested in SS, please complete an application at www.ruffstarthappytails.org.
