Here's what the humans have to say about me:
About as sweet and gentle a soul as you will find, Suzie is a Maltese girl we recently brought up from rural Alabama who has known a very hard life and is now is searching for a special adopter. She was in poor shape when she first arrived here...nearly toothless, very thin, with a terribly matted coat and unsure about the world. But she always tries and is very dear. The vet, to our surprise, guessed her to be six or so, quite a sad thing given her condition. She has settled in well and while she has a tentative aspect is always in sweet mode. There is not an ounce of sharpness to her, and she gets along with kids, dogs, cats, you name it! We're pretty sure she was only kept outside, but she is starting to get the hang of housebreaking. Due to a heart murmur, the vet advised we do further testing, and consequently Suzie was diagnosed as having early mitral valve insufficiency. This will require medication, which is quite inexpensive, but over time it will advance to heart failure. We are hoping to find an adopter who can appreciate the opportunity of making her last few years special. She certainly deserves this and will reward you with her undying loyalty, appreciation and companionship....she is such a sweet, inspiring little dog who has never given up, despite it all. We recommend Suzie for a quieter, gentler household. We would be very comfortable placing her in a home with gentle kids, however. She is a surprisingly good player with other dogs and would do fine in a multi dog setting. Her adoption fee will be $400.
