My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bailey is a 7 yr old Female Retriever Mix.

I would like to reintroduce you to the new and improved Bailey. She has been well taken care of but has had some adjustment issues. She must have someone who is home most of the time and either doesn't travel much or will take her along. She is an exceedingly loyal dog that simply doesn't like being separated from her preferred person. Doggie friends are all well and good, but she doesn't think they are an adequate substitute for her human bonds.

She has never been destructive when left alone and has free roam 24/7.

There used to be a lot of drama when I would leave for errands, but we have worked through the "extinction bursts" and she mostly looks wistfully out the window when I am gone.

She walks nicely on a loose leash, but does try to creep forward a little bit so she will need a little more practice, and it is only a matter of time until she is rock solid with her leash habits. Her greatest joy is running free in the forest. You will never see such a free spirit. She zigzags in the grass, flushing her imaginary pheasants, but checks back in regularly. No matter how long the walks, she hasn't come up lame or stiff. However, even if you don't exercise her, she is always relaxed and calm in the house. A pleasure to be around, never needy or demanding.

At 77 lbs and 7 years old she is trim and looks like a dog half her age. She plays well with other dogs and ignores the cat. She has never had an accident. She alerts to people at the door, but is good with company. She will do best if she can be exercised regularly.
