My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello everybody! My name is Mandela. I am a 2-year-old neutered male purebred Miniature Poodle. I weigh approximately 10 pounds.

I'm one of those highly sought after pups because I'm considered hypoallergenic and I'm the perfect travel size. Not to mention, I'm super duper cute - if you don't focus on my backside. More on that later...

I am a very special guy. My friends have described me as being sweet, loving, and an all around happy dog. I don't let anything get me down! I'm curious, playful, and good with other dogs. I am quite the social butterfly. And, if you are looking for a dog with decent leash manners, you've come to the right place.

My human pals are looking for a home that will provide me with a good amount of exercise. I'm not crazy, but I am still a young guy and enjoy running around and being silly. Trips to the dog park, going for jogs around the neighborhood, or playing fetch in the backyard sounds like a good time to me.

Now, lets talk about the elephant in the room. So, you've probably noticed that I'm missing a tail and some hair on my rump. It's a very sad story. The day before my 2nd birthday, I was hit by a car. My former owners rushed me to the vet. When they were informed of all the damage that had occurred and what the cost would be to repair my broken body, they decided they wanted me euthanized. Thankfully, the vet refused to put me to sleep despite my former dad's insistence. Eventually, the staff was able to talk my family into relinquishing ownership to them. My life was spared!

Immediately afterwards, the vet contacted CageFree to see if they would be willing to take me and tend to my medical needs. They agreed and I was sent to see a specialist. Unfortunately, I had to have my tail amputated and my abdominal organs stuffed back into my abdomen. Yep, you heard that right! I suffered a hernia when I was hit by the car and my organs decided to take up residence in my chest cavity. The surgery went well and amazingly, I'm still alive. I'm expected to make a full recovery. I've already healed quite a bit and when you meet me, you'll be surprised that I was ever injured. I act like a normal dog and show no signs of being in pain.

So there's my story. If you think that I would make a great companion for you and you are able to keep me safe from those giant metal boxes with tires, then please don't hesitate to contact CageFree and tell them you want to meet me. I can't wait to find my forever home!
