JJ's Story...
Oh! So you think you've got to find a fancy pet store and pay outrageous prices for this super cute guy? Nope! ITV rescued JJ when he and a friend were in danger in a neighboring animal control. Not only is he a very desirable breed- a Shi-tzu, but he's also a sweet dog. JJ is 8-9 years old and weighs approximately 12 pounds. This brown and white dude loves to snuggle. JJ enjoys being outside and taking walks on a leash. He's got quite the personality as well. Recently, while some improvements were going on around him here at ITV, he stood on top of his Igloo doghouse to check out all the action. He certainly knows how to entertain a crowd! He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative. JJ can sometimes get a little grumpy so we think he will do best in a home without small children. JJ deserves a forever home with a family who will love on him. He keeps his kennel clean and is friendly with other dogs. JJ also enjoys car rides, so he's ready to see the outside world with you! If you would like to give JJ his happily ever after, please submit your adoption application at This guy will only take serious inquiries and never wants to be homeless again. He hopes to be smiling for you soon!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

JJ, a Evansville Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Evansville, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Evansville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Evansville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Evansville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Evansville paves the way for another one to be saved.
