My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COURTESY LISTING--Contact information is at the bottom of this listing.

Layla is three years old and weighs 35 pounds. Her story is a sad one. Her owners were trying to get rid of her by advertising her on Craig’s list until a rescuer convinced them to let her take Layla. She had cherry eye and needed surgery which was done. She went into rescue and a wonderful foster home was found for her. Layla was adopted into a family with two young children and returned six weeks later. We highly suspect that the home Layla was adopted into was chaotic and there was a lot of yelling going on between adults and children and that she could possibly have been abused. We will never really know what happened to her in that home.

Her foster home took her back right away eventually adopted her. Since then they have had a baby, and their little boy is now a year old. Layla has had some difficulty adapting to an active and noisy toddler and although they are heartbroken, her family feels Layla would do much better in a home with no small children.

Layla loves to cuddle and go for walks. She is crate trained, has attended dog obedience classes, and is living with two other dogs. There was a cat in her first adoptive home. We strongly feel that something happened in her first adoptive home that caused her trauma that makes it difficult for her to adjust to young children. She would be a great dog for someone with older children or no children. She is a very sweet and loving dog with a lifetime of love to give. She needs a family that understands the tough time she as had that is more of a “zen” type of family.

Layla is located in Davenport, IA and transport can be arranged to an approved adopter. All vet records are available. All potential adopters will be fully screened, a home visit done and references checked. Layla is spayed and up to date on all shots. If you are interested in making Layla a part of your family please e-mail Cindy VanLandegen at vanlandegen@sbcglobal.net.
