Bernie is one adorable little boy who sure has had a lot of hard luck in his life. He arrived at the shelter on 10/28 as a lost dog with a broken pelvis. The vet notes show that his pelvis is broken through the hip joint. The x-ray shows “Right acetabular fracture” His injury will require surgery. He also has a laceration on his left rear leg that should heal with time. UPDATE from vet on 11/13 - "He is walking on the broken side, so MAY do OK without surgery with 6 weeks of STRICT rest. His wound is healed." This cute boy needs to get out of the shelter and into rescue group to get his pelvis repaired. And if that isn't enough, he has also tested positive for heartworms. So he is going to need to be treated for those as well. But through all of these hardships, he is so darned sweet! Bernie is 2 years old, weighs 25 lbs., his ID is 580060 and he is resting in cage 505 off the adoption floor. If you are with a licensed rescue group, please consider saving him! When you meet him, your heart will melt and you will fall in love with him like the shelter staff has.
