Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This precious little maltese mix is approx 2-3 yrs old, and weighs 7.5 lbs. When we rescued her, the left back foot had been "degloved" meaning that her bone was exposed. We are not sure what happened to cause this. A lot of the times the injury is due to the foot getting trapped under or in an object and while trying to free themselves the injury happens. The vet felt that the foot would heal itself which it did and she was left with a nub as a foot,so we had a prosthesis fitted for her that she can wear during the day to take the pressure off of the foot, she can get around really well with or without her new pink prosthesis and loves to run and play like all her buddies. She is a very sweet little girl, can be a little wary of men but warms up pretty quickly. She is pretty fast as well, loves toys and is pretty well house trained and does well on a leash. Here is her foster mom's latest update - Rummie came to us with what was thought to be a de-gloving injury on her back foot, in which one of her little feet was missing and was very painful initially. She has since healed very well and has created a bit of a callous on that foot and she uses pretty normally. She doesn't know she's any different from any other dog.
Two different specially made prosthetics have been made for her which I will use for long walks and when it's cold out
Rummie is a very loving little dog and a terrier to the core. She loves to play with toys, especially balls. She plays hard with other dogs, and she will literally play soccer with you.
She doesnt mind getting her paws dirty, but loves to be spoiled too. She spends her days with us at doggy day care and can run like a maniac and you'd never know she's missing a foot.
She is wonderful with children. She plays great with my 5 and 2 year old nephews. She's a very active little thing but will also sits quietly with you in a chair and watch tv. She loves car rides. She's crate trained.
