My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Coffee is a lovely ,very mellow, 10 year old brood mom that just came to SA Greys. She is small dog tolerant, but not cat tolerant and will not do well with small children.

I’m named Coffee, but I look like there was a lot of milk mixed into my coffee colored fur. It could also be because I am a senior dog and show my wisdom with lighter strands of hair among the coffee color. Either way, I will make a wonderful house companion for you. I am 10 years young and have been a brood mama for several years. I love to sing with the sound of the coyotes or my other singing greyhound friends. I also try to tell people what I want by talking. Mostly what I am is happy and friendly, and I can be very entertaining in my mature antics. I cannot wait to join a forever family!

FOSTER UPDATE:

Coffee is a real sweetheart with soft bunny hair. She’s much more enthusiastic than you’d expect of a 10-year-old. She loves being around us and our greyhound, but she gets anxious if we leave her by herself. We usually crate her the few times this has occurred, which she doesn’t seem to mind. (We’ve never crated her for longer than an hour or so except when she first came). If our grey is home, we just leave her out of the crate when we go out, and she’s fine. Therefore, we feel she should have a grey companion or be with someone who is home nearly all of the time.

Coffee now looks forward to having company and being petted. While she tested ok with small dogs, we haven’t encountered any yet to confirm that. Coffee has a lame back leg from its being broken in the past and never fixed, but she’s anxious to go for walks when we take our grey out. She walks well on a leash. We don’t take her far, but the leg doesn’t seem to bother her much. She is even able to jump when she wants.

Coffee has many habits that make her a good family member: She lets us know when she needs to go out. We’ve never heard her bark. She doesn’t seem to be afraid of the vacuum, cars and trucks, etc. Coffee rides well in the car. She eats well. Coffee seems very happy (she has a cute smile on her face when she sleeps, and she has roached, so we’re thinking she loves home life!).

Her ideal person(s) is someone who is home most of the time and wants to provide lots of love to a senior dog who has lots of love to give in return. I can’t say too many times how sweet and sensitive she is!!
