Possum's Story...
Possum is an owner surrender Australian Cattle Dog that is 7 years old and has lived on a farm. She has spent time indoors and did well and is doing very well on kennel training here at the shelter. She gets along with other dogs and literally loves everyone she meets. She'll climb in your lap 10 seconds after meeting you. Possum is active but not hyper at all. She'd make a great companion for someone looking for an indoor dog that walks daily. Dog adoption is 130.00 and includes spay/neuter, heartworm testing, age appropriate vaccines including a 3 year rabies, health exam, deworming, and microchipping. Any animal 6 months or older is considered an adult. No animals are vetted until they are adopted as we do not have a vet on staff. Once the animal is adopted we make a vet appointment, and they must go to be vetted before they can go home with an adopter. Call 985.651.7387 for more information regarding adoption.

Act quickly to adopt Possum. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Possum, a Laplace Australian Cattle Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Cattle Dog for sale in Laplace, or seeking a Australian Cattle Dog dog from a breeder in Laplace.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Laplace already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Laplace breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Cattle Dog breeders who help with Australian Cattle Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Laplace paves the way for another one to be saved.
