My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET JANET (aka Chloe)-

JANET (aka Chloe) is a smooth red 11 year old senior doxie who has recently found herself needing a new forever home.

We can now share Janet's story as well as the story of her siblings: Oregon Dachshund Rescue received an email in late October asking for placement for 3 Dachshunds. We answered the email , but no response came back. A few days later a local shelter sent ODR INC an email saying the just received 3 “stray” Dachshunds that were dropped off by a “stranger”. These were the same dogs.

The local shelter named them after the “Three’s company" television show characters: Jack, Janet and Chrissy.

IMPORTANT information for Janet's forever family: Janet (Chloe) has cataracts on her eyes.

She is kind, loving and in need of a very special family. JANET will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.

Like all Dachshunds, JANET is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, JANET needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee requested is $100, which is a donation to Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc, to help cover the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give JANET (Chloe) a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
