My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Louie has quite a story. His begins in the streets of Hashtgerd, Iran. In a country that does not view dogs as living beings - but rather as dirty objects that should be ignored and tossed out like garbage - Louie roamed without a home, without a family, subject to abuse that we can only speculate about. He was saved from the streets and brought to Vafa Animal Shelter - the first animal shelter in the country. It was there that he was given medical care, food to eat, clean water to drink. It was also there that he met a different type of human. These people were kind beyond words. They spoke softly and their touch did not hurt like all the others. Louie gained strength and a will to live. When he was ready, he was flown to the US and into Rescue Dogs Rock, where he is in foster.

Louie is an amazing boy. His soulful, beautiful eyes truly reflect the gentleness inside him. He is low key - not hyper at all - and seeks out human interaction. He is shy at first - as his whole world has been so drastically changed - but warms up in no time. He is most shy around kids - not aggressive at all. We think this is because the majority of animal abusers in Iran are children. We think a home with older kids is best - 12 and older. Again not b/c of any behavior he has shown. We just don't want to upset him or stress him.

Louie is about 70lbs and is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and dewormed. He gets along fine with other dogs (he lived with over 400 other dogs in a community shelter where the dogs interact constantly) and shows no interest in cats. He loves the outside - even if it's just sitting on ur deck with u. We aren't sure of what breed he is but looks like he could be an Irish Wolfhound mix of some sort. He it though to be about 2 yrs old.
