My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JACK is a 1 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 67 pounds. Jack #6 is a very shy and loving guy. Jack is very nervous in new situations and around unknown people. He is going to need a family that is willing to be patient and work with him to help him come out of his shell. Jack is house trained but is not crate trained. He walks ok on a leash but does have some prey drive. Jack does enjoy playing fetch. He is good with other dogs and does much better and feels much more comfortable when there is another dog around so he should go to a home with another dog. His evaluator said: Jack is a very handsome guy, he has a silky coat and is quite tall and lanky. He was very people shy at first but did better when I brought out my dog. He was perky, barking and wanted to come out to play with my dog. He should go to a home with another dog that he can play with and a fenced yard. Jack was originally a stray to the rescuing family and they surrendered him to lab rescue to find him a good home. He is approved for kids 10+.

Update (12/10): Jack the 'elk' is doing really well. I think he's an elk because when he runs he RUNS and jumps and has a great time. He loves running with the resident dogs and doesn't get why they both squeak when they play but prances along side them.

Update (12/04): Jack is doing great. He has warmed up to all the family members and loves leaning on everyone for attention. He has played some with the resident labs. He slept on a bed next to his foster's bed and did great. He is also eating well, he still needs to gain a little extra weight. He does fine crated for short periods of time so far. Most of the time Jack does well on leash but does have a strong prey drive so he needs some redirection when distracted by animals. He is very sweet and curious. He isn't as timid as expected, loud noises do startle him and he needs a little extra time to meet people. Overall, he is settling in very nicely.

This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. The rescue has between 50 ~ 80 dogs available for adoption.
