My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

IDGSR WELCOMES ATHENA INTO THE SAFETY OF THE RESCUE!!!!

Athena as you can see from the pics is a total love. She gets along fine with most dogs, is mild mannered, easy, comes when called, not a difficult dog,
she takes time to warm up to you and is very shy and timid.
Athena is best suited in a home where there is a female owner and quiet surroundings.
She will bark and alert you to strangers or warn you.
She is loving and sweet.
Athena has a odd birth defect in her eye, it does not affect her vision and
it looks weird but is who she is, it is DISTICHIA, the hairs come out of her eyeball at the top part of her eye and almost blend in with her eyelashes but they are longer. This is the diagnosis of this, no surgery is needed and she is living fine with this anomaly. She has been seen by a vet who agrees that she is fine, it is not bothering her, occasionally the hairs will fold over to the side and if you wipe her eye with a moist cloth they pop right back into place.
Yes it's weird, we'd never seen anything like it, but nothing need be done in regards to this, Athena is in need of a loving home.
She would be great with retirees who have a quiet home and want a easy dog.
