My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In ancient times the three petal segments of the Iris represented faith, wisdom and valor. Let me tell you, this pup is the ideal embodiment of these characteristics. I’ve got unwavering faith in my humans and I’ll do just about anything to make them happy. I might not be the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to conventional wisdom, but I sure know how to shake, to convince everyone to rub my belly and pick up new tricks quickly. I also lack valor in the traditional battlefield sense, but I have great determination when it comes to encouraging my humans to give me treats (I am very very treat motivated). I may be young in age, but my body has seen tremendous hardship over my short life; so I need a family that will be mindful of my painful joints and my love for sleep and comfy surfaces. But that doesn’t mean I don’t love exercise; I’m always ecstatic about my daily walks and I often have bursts of energy where I love chasing a ball around. Due to my past I can be dog selective, in that if other dogs (especially puppies) make me feel threatened I can get kind of cranky; but I would still do well with the right dog in a household. I’m housetrained, but not currently crate trained as crates make me really anxious and remind me of my painful past. I’m an expert at making my foster parents laugh and making people feel loved with my affectionate nature towards everyone I meet. So if you’re looking for a loyal companion, an awesome snuggle buddy and want to bring some vibrance and happiness into your home, then I guarantee I’m the Iris for you!
