Meet Jasper James Dooley!
Hi, my name is Jasper James Dooley, sometimes my foster mom calls me DJ Jaspy because I'm the life of the party and if I must say, I am a handsome young man who is sure to melt your heart with my crazy moves!
So a little bit about me: I'm only 4 months old now but already 30 lbs. I think I'm a pit/boxer mix because I have the bully body but am longer in the legs and I love to use my front paws like a boxer. Judging by my paws, I'm going to be a pretty big boy when I'm all grown up.
I'm working on my potty training and am really good at using my doggy door when we are all home but do well during the day with a good potty schedule. I love to go on walks and I especially love to play with all sorts of different toys. I even know how to play fetch already, but I don't play very long because something else inevitably distracts me. I also think it is super fun to carry things around in my mouth -- balls, sticks, ropes, or whatever, just me being a goofball. Sometimes I forget when I bring my toys outside and leave them there, but I am very excited when I find them again!
Currently I live two canine foster sisters, a pit mix and a miniature poodle. I love to play with my big sister and she is teaching me good doggie manners. I try really hard to be friends with the poodle but she doesn't like me very much. I think I'm too big and try to play too rough with her. She lets me know when I cross the line, which I have to admit is often but I respect her space after. I have a lot of energy and would love my furever home to take regular walks, be active, and play fun games with me. I also wouldn't mind another canine companion as I love other dogs, they are fun to play with and I really love to snuggle with my sisters.
My foster mom is working with me learning basic commands and building my confidence. She says I'm a super smart boy because I learned sit right away. We are working on some other basic commands and learning how to share with my sisters. My foster mom is really great at giving me lots of positive reinforcement because I am not always confident with new things but she helps me and then I'm better. I am a sensitive boy who excels with praise or redirection.
Most importantly, I love, love, love my humans. I enjoy spending time however I can, including taking naps on my foster mom, giving great kisses and following my mom around to see what she is doing. I sure hope to find my furever snuggler family! Could it be you?
Jasper’s adoption fee is $350 and he is being fostered in southeastern Wisconsin. Because all our Cupids are fostered in private homes, an approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with a meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.
