Mister is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is with the stunning silver and white streaks that run through his soft coat. Mister also has the cutest scruffy Schnauzer face with that classic Doxy body ...you just want to hug this little cutie-pie close. Once Mister gets a sudsy bath and his first haircut where you can finally see his face and very wise eyes...he will absolutely be one of the most adorable guys around. At 9 - 12 months old and about 25 lbs, Alvin is a perfect weight to accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet smaller dog is welcome... while being large enough to be a walker and outside companion.
Mister is every bit the young guy...fun and inquisitive. While being initially timid, he comes around with some belly rubs and a soft voice. Mister just needs love and patience to blossom at his own rate. At the same time, he is a happy pup (once he's used to his environment) who expresses himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses of love. At this early point in Mister's development, he is open to relationships with everyone if just given the time for assessment. We want to nurture a positive vision of the world by matching Mister to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Mister to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group class to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being. We also feel Mister would be most comfortable with an adult family or one with older kids where voices are softer and the energy is calmer.
Right now, Mister is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Mister becomes so loyal that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than leisurely walks, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. If there is love and gentle guidance..Mister can succeed.
Mister's new family needs to have the motivation, energy and open heart for a young rescue dog. He requires attention, exercise, behavioral guidance and tons of love to give him a positive attitude about the world. Mister will be fully vetted and neutered when he arrives in Boulder to be in line with our commitment to zero population growth in dogs.
Mister is a non-shedding(or very lightly shedding) guy with the beautiful markings and scruffy hair that speaks of both breeds in his mix. He will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of salmon oil would be great) to keep his coat healthy and matt-free.
