My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

January 2016 update: Raiden is a beautiful one year old Hound mix. He was found abandoned with a collar embedded in his neck but recovered beautifully in the care of our southern partner shelter. The pain must have been awful, yet he still trusts people and is the sweetest boy.

Despite what he has endured, Raiden is a happy-go-lucky dog! He is a well-mannered companion who is always ready to be close by your side on daily walks. He is an affectionate dog who enjoys being petted and quality cuddle time. Raiden wants to learn and please his people and enjoys playtime with other dogs. He is a petite guy, around 35 lbs - a great medium size! He will be such a wonderful part of the family lucky enough to take him home, Raiden has so much love to give!

During his SAFER test Raiden did beautifully except was a bit protective over food so we'd recommend feeding him separately and that it would be best for him to live with older children in a potential new home.

Raiden has now settled into his Maine foster home, and we are finding that he is doing wonderfully with their two dogs and cat, and has made friends with a canine neighbor. He’s housebroken and crate trained and likes to snuggle in bed. In addition to going for a walk, he likes to go for car rides and LOVES to run in the fenced back yard. He likes chasing balls but is not the best at giving them back. His tendency to protect his food has decreased as he’s gotten used to consistent meals and good leadership. He can be vocal and persistent, mainly when he’s trying to get one of the dogs to play with him. It takes him a little while to warm up to someone new, but treats are the magical cure.

Raiden would be fine as an only dog or having furry siblings.

Please note, we do not have a physical facility where our dogs are housed, they are cared for in our network of wonderful foster homes throughout New England. If you find a dog you would like to meet, our expectation is that, once approved, you will travel to meet the dog in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
