Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Janey! She is a pretty shy lady right now, but she is showing signs of showing her true happy, active self! One thing that is very evident about Janey is that she wants to be the best dog ever! She is very smart and is making good progress with 'sit', 'stay', 'down', and 'come.' She likes to chew on her toys, but hasn't chewed on anything else (furniture, etc.)! Her very favorite thing to do is go for walks, and she does very well on her leash, only pulling when there's a really special treat like a squirrel or a bunny up ahead. Snuggling with all members of her foster family comes in a close second in terms of her favorite things. She loves her foster brother (a German Shepherd mix) a lot, so much so that sometimes she invades his personal bubble, but she's learning dog talk very fast too! She has been observed barking, snoring, howling, and sighing, but she is not an excessive noise-maker by any means. She sleeps in her crate at night with the door open, and does fine in it during the day as well. She does great with other dogs but is yet to interact with cats. She hasn't met any kids since her arrival, either. She also seems to be more comfortable around women, but she does ok with men once she's spent some time around them. She has been 100% on going to the bathroom outside so far! Janey is estimated to be about 1 year old and weighs about 40 pounds. Since we don't know at all what doggy genes are in the dogs make up (we don't know who mom and dad are!), we are just guessing on breed and size when grown.
All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They have all had a vet exam, are up to date on vaccinations, have been given a dewormer, are treated for fleas, have a heartworm test if over 6 months old and are up to date on a heartworm preventative.
Please note that because we require a home visit at the time of adoption we can only place animals in homes within a 60 mile radius of Minneapolis.If you are interested in meeting this dog please fill out the pre-adoption application on our website at http://www.safehandsrescue.org under Adopt and we will get back to you to arrange a meeting in the foster home.
We also have an Adoptable Dog Meet & Greet on Saturday December 26, 2015, at Fetch Delivers Warehouse, 783 Harding St. NE. Suite 150, Minneapolis, MN 55413, from noon - 2 pm. Occasionally dogs cannot make it to the Meet & Greet, therefore feel free to verify if your dog of interest is able to attend. Please bring a copy of your pre-adoption application.
