My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HERO is a 4 year old neutered chocolate male Lab who weighs 58 pounds. Hero is easy going and thinks everyone he meets should be his friend He likes to get attention which I don't think he has had a lot of in his life but we can fix that. One of his ears had an old hematoma so doesn't lay flat anymore, Hero says it gives him character. He looks forward to meeting your folks so they can bring him to his new home soon. Good with other dogs had him out with several with no problems. Knows sit, come. Okay on lead better with an Easy Walk Harness. Most likely house trained, waits until he goes outside to go. Shelter says Hero is a well-mannered sweet dog who loves attention and treats. He will make a wonderful companions and family member. He was a stray to the shelter. He is approved for kids 10+.

Update : Okay it’s time I have a family of my own to love and take care of me. I have been with my wonderful fosters for a while and have tried many new including mowing the lawn, modeling haberdashery, trying out as Fire Department mascot, being a chef which are all exciting but tiring. I really like hanging with my humans and snoozing on a nice comfy couch.
I continue to do well in my foster home, I'm 4 years old, I'm awesome on the leash and in the car, I love my furry foster siblings and I continue to be a mellow guy. I've finished my treatment for those pesky tick borne diseases but I'll need to get those heart worms taken care of in about a month and a half....my foster bro Coop tells me not to worry because he too had those HWs but the fine folks at LRCP helped with his treatment at one of their vets. I'm about 60 pounds and so gentle...I know sit and come and I make sure to keep FM company as she moves around the house. I'm a good sleeper (man I love the FP's bed) and have been known to go to bed early and sleep until the pack gets up for breakfast. I'm fairly dreamy if I do say so myself but just to confirm, foster mom tells me I'm gonna make some lucky human(s) really happy...until then I'll continue to hang out and explore new things! Have a great week Hero.

Update : FM said this week we needed to give you all my sweet and sophisticated side. I thought this sounded like an ok idea until she pulled out the treats and then, of course, I was all in. As you can see I'm a handsome 4 year old boy with a deep chocolate colored coat. I love to sleep on the couch or the bed or a comfy dog bed or even on my foster sister's butt and take long leisurely walks around the block. I love to wrestle with my foster brother and just this week I met the boys across the street and we had several play dates all four dudes which was cool. I'm approved for 10 and above, I'm a mellow guy and super easy to care for and while I like it here, I'm still in search of my perfect human or humans. So don't forget to ask your AC about me...hopefully before the FM decides I need to show my feminine side and puts me in a dress! heart emoticon Hero

Update): Folks I need some help....these crazy foster people are putting me to work...do I look like I have opposable thumbs? Geesh, they are so silly...and it's not like I won't work for dog treats and bacon, but mowing the lawn....are they kidding me??!! So I definitely need a new family in 2016...one that will let me sleep upside down on the couch, let me "help" with construction projects from the comfort of my dog bed, will take me for walks around the block and actually feed me some bacon and not just temp me. Foster mom tells me I'm a gem each and every day...I've got a good appetite, I'm housebroken, I'm a total dream on the leash, I like to play but I like to snuggle, I'm good with other dogs but I haven't declared my cat status and I'm an all-around awesome little guy. Ask your AC's about me before they expect me to start vacuuming for them too! Happy New Year!! heart emoticon Hero

Update: .Hero here, wishing everyone a sunshiny Sunday! I'm taking a little snooze after a busy morning of hanging out with my foster brother in what FM has titled "WWDWF" (world wide dog wrestling federation) Sunday...we can't help it, we love to play together! I'm still looking for my own family even though I'm having fun right now...I'm house trained, I have a mellow and gentle disposition, I love to have my butt and chest rubbed/scratched...in fact I'll walk through your legs to make this happen, I only need to hang out in the crate when FM and FD head out of the house, I continue to be a dream walker on the leash and I really love those walks and I'm a good eater! I'm pretty compact at just shy of 60 pounds, I'm a dark chocolate brown color and I have a silly ear that doesn't quick lay flat anymore from an old hematoma. So don't forget to ask your ACs about me!! heart emoticon Hero!

Update: Happy Monday Morning Folks! My name is Hero and why might you ask am I playing dead in this picture?....because foster mom is killing me with songs that have the word "Hero" in the title....Bonnie Tyler she is NOT, nor Mirah Carey, Tina Turner or Enrique Iglesia....anyway, the kind folks from the Black Dog Lab Spa sprung me from the kennel yesterday...how they are the black dog lab spa when they came with a ginger I don't know. But I do know that I love being in a house....with a comfy, dog friendly couch, a big yard and a bed that fits the whole pack including me. I'm a 4 year old, mellow guy that can get my puppy on and play in no time at all. I love to give kisses, I ride well in the car, walk pretty awesomely on the leash and have a hearty appetite.
I'm an expresso lab, like dark chocolate and I have on ear that is a little wonky from a previous ear hematoma...which foster mom assures me adds character. I'm great with the resident hounds but have no cat history and unfortunately I'm told that since my foster siblings like the little furry creatures a bit too much I won't get a chance to get cat certified...although Mr. Sterrie brought me by the cat room at the kennel and I didn't bat a dog eyelash at them. I'm a little curious about the trashcan (although they have a lock on the one here since I'm not the only one) and what's on the counter...but I mean FM was making pizza last night and there was pepperoni up there so you can't blame a guy for being interested. Anyway I'd love to have a family of my own and am approved for kids 10 and up....call your AC fast. in the mean time FM will try to get a picture of what I look like right side up but I'm a little camera elusive!
