My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rain! This beautiful little white faced tricolor female BC came with the K pups from a rural area in Colorado, where they were dumped in a ranchers corral. We think she is about a year old. She was just terrified at the shelter and arrived into WBCR a frightened girl, but after just a couple of weeks in foster care she is learning that people are good news and is starting to blossom!

Although she is still lacking in confidence and initially quite shy, Rain is super sweet with people and a marathon cuddler! She will likely bond very strongly to her family. Given her lack of confidence (which is not defensive, she just runs to her crate) Rain is not a good candidate for homes with small children. She likes to play with other dogs and has good doggy social skills, however, she can be bossy with other dogs at times, and a bit guardy of her person, so it would be best if the other dog in the household is able to respect her boundaries. Rain could be equally successful in a home with or without other dogs. She would be fine as an only dog, as she really likes to be the center of her person’s attention. Rain shows some herdyness. She has not been tested with cats. She is small (about 35 pounds) and fast and may make a great agility candidate. Right now she seems to be a moderate energy girl, needing a good chunk of exercise daily, though that might change a bit as she continues to come out of her shell.

Rain will do best with a home that will be able to give her time to blossom into a confident dog without pushing her too much. Although she is pretty reasonable in the house, Rain is learning basic house manners. Positive gentle training tactics will be essential for this girl! She is doing very well with housetraining and crate training, but doesn’t quite yet understand what she is allowed to put in her mouth. At this point, an adopter would need be willing to continue with crate training, as she really needs a “safe place” to retreat to when she gets overwhelmed. She is not yet acclimated to walking on a leash but working on it, so, a family with a fenced yard would be ideal for Rain at the moment.

All in all, Rain is a lovely young dog who will blossom into a marvelous canine companion in the right hands. If you have the energy, experience, and patience to welcome a very underconfident dog into your life, Rain may be the one for you!

Rain is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and living in a loving foster home in the Denver, CO area.
