My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Annie is a boxer/labrador mix, about 50 lbs. She is strong, fast, muscular and as sweet as melted candy. She's about one year and four months old. During my time with her, she has learned (and tries very hard) not to jump up on people when she first meets them, but she gets so excited that it can be hard for her to contain her energy, which is pretty darn cute. She is incredibly loving and affectionate. She loves belly rubs, back and ear scratches, and lying on your feet. She is also very goofy. She loves to play fetch and chase anything that moves: squirrels, birds, sticks, rope toys. She loves to play with other dogs but is better with big dogs only. She can become aggressive with smaller dogs.
Annie was found at about four months old, then held in foster care in a few different homes before I took her. She has no history of erratic or aggressive behavior except for towards small dogs. I would not recommend her to live in a home with a small dog or cat (for the same reason, though she hasn't interacted with cats much). She is great with kids and would be an awesome companion for a small family. She needs lots of exercise and affection.
If you're interested in taking Annie into your home, I would love to speak with you! She's been my best pal for the past year now, but to my own detriment I can no longer keep her as I'm moving far away for work. I want to make sure she goes to a loving family.

The ideal home for this Real Good Dog will have a secure fenced yard. A solid history of excellent vet care for current or previous pets is required. Preference will be given to applicants who have specific breed experience.

Please visit www.realgoodrescue.com to submit an electronic application if you are interested in adopting this or any other Real Good Dog.

We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
