Burr's Story...
Burr is a senior male Great Dane possibly Black Lab mix, black with white in color, who weighs 61.5 pounds now up from an intake of 49 pounds. He was found as an injured stray on Bob Cheek Road. He was taken to the vet for wounds on his neck and is has now healed nicely and finished with his medications. He is very sweet, very food and treat motivated, and now has a good weight on him. He does bark at the other male dogs but in the past few weeks we have had him out playing with them and he has gotten along with boys and girls. He will not start a fight, but if another dog starts one or tries him he does stand up for himself and will fight back. The vet confirmed he is 8-10 years old. Loves his blanket! Eats like a horse. Loves his treats and to be petted. He knows he is a boy but was neutered 3-22 so we are hoping those urges end soon. He loves the girls, but is a little testy with some of the boys especially if they are unaltered adult males. His adoption fee is $15 since he has now been neutered and given his rabies vaccine courtesy of the Vol Fund. Burr IS heartworm positive and we are starting him on a 30 day round of antibiotics and Advantage Multi to start the slow kill process of killing the heartworms. His new owner would be responsible for any follow up treatment and following up with their vet as to the next course of action to take. With his age we are choosing to treat him monthly with Advantage Multi for the time being.
