Sammy's Story...
**Sammy is currently being fostered in Houston and is available for out-of-state adoption to an amazing family. The adoption fee is $500, which covers transport and Sammy is fully vetted.**

Sammy is a 2 year old German Shepherd mix. He is a super friendly dog who ended up in a Houston shelter by no fault of his own, so we're working to help him find his forever home!

Sammy would do best in a family setting with a backyard with some space for him to run around and play fetch with his people. He loves to play chase and give very slobbery kisses. He is just a happy goofball, good on a leash, and super affectionate. At night he'd like a bed in a warm spot close to his humans, please!

He has been working on his basic commands with the shelter volunteers and a certified dog trainer as part of the shelter's dog ambassador program, making him family ready!

Sammy is neutered, up to date on his shots, completely vetted, and ready for adoption. The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application on our website www.reggiesfriends.org. Hover over the "adoptables" tab and the adoption contract link will appear. If you have any questions about Sammy or our process, please email us at adoptions@reggiesfriends.org.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sammy, a Portland German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Portland, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
