My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Zero" is a handsome, approx 75-lb 1½ to 2-yo neutered male GSD who is affectionate, playful and mild-mannered. Zero loves to be handled, either gently or rough-housing. He is friendly with strangers, including those who enter his foster caretaker's house. So far, Zero hasn't exhibited much in the way of alarm barking--only when he hears a delivery truck outside. Zero plays gently for a dog his age, and though we have yet to observe him around children, there's every indication he'll be good with kids.

Zero has yet to interact w/ other dogs since we rescued him, but he shows no signs of aggression towards other dogs when out on walks--just gets a little excited. We'll have an update on Zero and other dogs soon. We have not observed Zero around cats, so at least for now, I will only consider a home without cats for him.

Zero is quite well behaved for a dog his age who likely did not receive much training. His foster caretaker Andrew has been working with him regularly on basic commands such as "sit", "lie down", and "stay", and he's picked up on these fairly quickly. Zero is quite non-destructive inside the house, having only chewed on a door stop to date. His foster caretaker keeps him outside during the day while he's gone, but with access to the garage. Zero has not caused any damage to the garage or yard.

Zero walks very well on leash, not pulling at all. He is also good when jogging, staying beside or just ahead of his handler.

Zero initially didn't show much interest in toys, but lately he's started to carry around and shake a stuffed animal. Most likely, Zero didn't have a lot of opportunities for toy play when he was a puppy.

GSRSV rescued Zero from the Stanislaus County shelter in Modesto on Dec 15, where Zero had been brought in as a stray on Nov 28. He went directly to a foster home in Bay Point (along Hwy 4 between Pittsburgh and Concord), where he is currently residing.

Zero's adoption fee is $275, which includes a microchip.
