Pudgie's Story...
Pudgie is a super cute 8 year old Bichon mix. This fellow was surrendered due to his owner going to a nursing home. Pudgie is a nice dog but his elderly owner wasn't big on training. He is not house trained and will need some socialization because he was basically home bound and hasn't had too many life experiences. Pudgie should probably not be placed with young children because he has never been around them. He was not allowed to go outside to potty, so needs lots of house training work. He has never been around other dogs or cats. He may learn more quickly with another dog in the family. Pudgie has been very happy with the attention he's received at the shelter and would love to continue getting attention in a loving home.

If you have kids and/or another dog in your family and are interested in adopting a Friendship dog please bring them with you for a meet and greet. No appointment is necessary. Stop by anytime during regular business hours

All dogs receive one or more vaccinations, a basic veterinary examination, are wormed, heartworm tested and spayed or neutered. Dogs 3 months and older are micro-chipped.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pudgie, a Elyria Bichon Frise dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Bichon Frise for sale in Elyria, or seeking a Bichon Frise dog from a breeder in Elyria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elyria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elyria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Bichon Frise breeders who help with Bichon Frise rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elyria paves the way for another one to be saved.
