My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It seems that everyone loves Terriers (they always rank very high in the most popular breeds list). We do...especially if they're as sweet and loving as Suzy. She was acknowledged at a high-kill Texas shelter for having a great personality and being so wonderful to love on and cuddle. This recognition is a tough feat considering this facility holds up to 450 dogs with a very high daily turn-in rate. Suzy, at 12 - 18 months old and just about 29 lbs (such a perfect medium size for hiking, snowshoeing or accompanying their favorite people just about anywhere)

Suzy is an exceptionally beautiful girl. She has such beautiful markings in the purest of white against chocolate brown. You can tell when you look into Suzy's very expressive eyes that her short life has held sadness and challenges..but she would never be one to carry that around. Suzy's great energy makes you melt as she trusts more and more... and then before you know it, this adorable pup is in your lap letting you know you are her number one love! We can't think of a better or more devoted companion for active retirees or a family with very gentle children who are searching for the sweetest playmate ever. Suzy would be a kind and respectful family member...she loves her people so much that she desires to behave to the best of her ability. She simply needs to understand what is being asked of her..once she's clear, she truly wants to comply. We think Suzy would be very successful in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. She would just naturally bond with her family while learning skills that will make her a well-trained and pleasant member of the community. Suzy desires be a long-term best friend who will always be waiting at the door with a happy tail and a kiss of greeting. Suzy will fit in with a family or individual that enjoys outdoor adventures. She loves the sunshine and would be overjoyed with a game of fetch with her person or a canine friend, a long hike, a fenced yard and a sunny porch. She is more than happy to engage in anything her guardian has in mind ...and smiles with joy at being included. We feel that Suzy would thrive in a family that includes their dog in their lives... leaving her alone at home for many, many hours wouldn't work for this sensitive girl. She's so pleasant...and could accompany her family just about anywhere a sweet pup is welcome. We would love a family that would give Suzy the benefit of this type of socialization.

It is Suzy's love affair with life and all the hardships that she's suffered along the way that motivates us to put her through Heartworm treatments. She has tested low heartworm positive and we feel her precious life deserves to be saved! Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life and will cover all costs for Suzy's treatment in Denver. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives.

Suzy will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 1/8 or 1/15/16.. If interested in this adorable and sweet...and often very entertaining companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
