Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Loki! A lot of people may recognize this name as the famous God of Mischief. I was named Loki, after the brave canine officer in my neighborhood. He sniffs out danger, and protects the community. When I came to my foster home, I needed all the courage of a hero. I could not let anyone touch me, or give me love. I needed some time and patience. After several months, I am really doing well. I wag my tail often, enjoy walks, and spend time sitting with my foster family. I really love kids and am very gentle. I love my foster dad and foster mom. I get along with all the dogs in my foster home, but I’m still kind of afraid to play. When things get wild here, I just head for my crate, and hang out for a while! I am still getting used to being in a family. I’ve been doing fabulous with my housebreaking, just an accident once in a while. I’ve picked up how to walk with a leash and not pull too hard. I had a huge trip to Chicago, and drove the whole way in the car. I wasn’t crazy about the idea, but I did a great job. I have always had a great appetite and have put on a few pounds since I came here. My entire foster family has been working very hard to help me be a brave, strong boy. Could your family be the one to make me a hero?
A word from Loki’s foster family: As a foster parent, Loki has been our biggest challenge and our greatest triumph. Seeing him evolve from a frightened, thin, and poor animal into a healthy, happy dog has been incredible. He still has a long way to go, with time, patience, and love he continues to amaze us. He may never leap into your lap, sleep close to you in bed, or plant wet kisses on you, but he is able to let you know he adores you. He needs to be crated when you leave home. Early on, he would be very upset in the crate and when he was left out of the crate. A real turning point came when we sought advice from his vet. Medicine once a day has made a huge difference. Loki’s permanent family is going to have to be very special. They will have to continue the work we have started. I can tell you, it will be one of the most gratifying experiences you’ll ever know.
