Princess Leia's Story...
Princess Leia is my name, after some character in a famous movie, they tell me. I'm a sweet and mellow 18 month old girl. I'm a tad nervous when meeting new people and it can take me a while to warm up to some dogs, but pretty quickly I make myself at home wherever I am. I am housetrained and I know how to use a dog door! I do like to be on comfy furniture, but dog beds are fine too-- I'm happy to sleep next to my foster mom at night on a dog bed or in her bed. I need to put on some weight, and probably because I didn't have enough food for a while, I will help myself to whatever is on the counter. And since I'm extra tall and long, that's pretty easy for me! I like treats, too, and I take them very nicely. I haven't had much experience in vehicles so I don't know quite how to get in one and once in, I'm kind of nervous until we get where we are going but that might get better as I do it more. I walk ok on a leash but want to check things out so a strong hand and a slip lead is best until I get used to walking more. I don't know how I would be around little kids, but I think bigger kids would be just great! Please come meet me and show me what a real home is like.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Princess Leia, a Phoenix Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Phoenix, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Phoenix.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Phoenix already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Phoenix breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Phoenix paves the way for another one to be saved.
