Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi! My name is JASPER, the friendly dog. I haven't had the best of life so far, but my foster mom promises that is going to change. My story begins when I was pulled from a neglectful situation and placed in a high kill shelter in southern Indiana. Most dogs would think this was a terrible place to be, but it was quite the opposite for me. The shelter workers cared for me, helped me put on much needed weight and advocated for me. I will thank them for the rest of my life for helping me find Rover Rescue. Once in Chicagoland, I was adopted quickly because of my stunning good looks. Unfortunately, I wasn't a good fit for the family. I was returned to my foster home because the neighbors in my apartment complex complained that I barked too much. I only complained when I was left home alone in my crate for extended time frames and didn't receive the exercise I required to be a good dog. My second adoption was going really well until my owner ended up in jail. I have been told the third adoption is a charm and I am banking on it. I am looking for a law abiding home that will love me and give me the time and exercise I need. Could that be you? I am a Husky/ German Shepherd (?) mix. The vet thinks I am around 2 years old and I weighed 42 pounds at my last visit. I have the most adorable huge ears! They bend just at the tips. When I run, just the tops flop! My eyes get me the most attention. I have striking bi-colored eyes. One is baby blue while the other is chocolate brown. My foster family thinks I am a charming boy. It did take me some time to warm up to all the family members, probably because I have been juggled around so much. Once I determine that you are worthy of my friendship, you are my bestest friend! I will love you and follow you everywhere I can. I am a quite the snuggler, but I also love to play! My foster home has two teenage boys who know how to get me wound up. I can get rough and tumble when I get riled up so I may not be a good match for a home with small children. I know that I am not supposed to jump up and get mouthy, but I sometimes forget. I do respond really well to correction. I play nicely with other dogs. My former adopter took me to doggy day care and I got an A+ on my report card. I enjoy playing with toys and can entertain myself. I am really good about walking on a leash. I am housetrained and haven't had one accident since coming back to my foster home. I don't necessarily like my crate so I spend my alone time baby gated in the kitchen and family room. I haven't been destructive at all and will sleep quietly on my doggy bed until someone comes home to play with me. No complaints of barking here. However, when I do bark, I get teased for my girly voice. At nighttime, my favorite place to be is curled up in a little ball in your bed. I promise you won't even know that I am there. I am a really good passenger in the car, but I do like to ride shotgun if it is available. I am not scared of noises and did not react to recent thunderstorms. If you think you may be my good luck charm, please call my foster mom, Darla, at 630-406-9405 and ask more about me, JASPER! My adoption fee is just $200 and includes my previous neuter, up-to date shots and microchip.
