Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Pepe is an 8.5 year old long haired Chihuahua who is very plump for his size. He is now on a healthy diet and his weight is down from 11 to 10 pounds with 8 pounds as a goal weight. (It became obvious when he moved into foster care that he was used to being fed at the table—but that program is over now!!). In the meantime, Pepe is the sweetest, fluffiest, happiest little chi you’ll ever meet. He loves to be petted and is very happy to cuddle up with you. Unfortunately Pepe is blind most likely due to something in his brain, not his eyes, so this is a condition he’ll have the rest of his life. Pepe manages very well and follows foster mom’s voice around the house and outdoors. He cannot ever be left up on furniture because he would fall off and get injured. Pepe gets along well with the other small dogs and the large dog in his foster home. He would probably be fine with cats, but Pepe would do best in a home without children and with minimal people coming and going. If you are looking for a sweet little lap dog who is house trained when taken out on a schedule, Pepe would be a great fit. He is quiet unless it’s time to eat or when he needs to go out. For his own safety he sleeps in a small kennel at night in foster mom’s room. Pepe is with Happy Hound Rescue, a 501c3 rescue. Pepe required extensive dental care when he arrived in rescue and his vet bills have been nearly 2K!!!! However, he is fully vetted and neutered and his adoption fee is only $250.00.
