My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ahem, over here, in the crate. Shh, don't tell foster mom that I'm in here. She's trying to take my picture, and I'm really camera shy. Darn, she found me, and got that picture too. Oh well. Let me introduce myself, I'm Praline and here are some things you should know about me. I get scared sometimes. I need patience, understanding, love, and time to help me get over my fears. I've been here in my foster home for a month now and I'm starting to feel more at ease every day. When I first meet new dogs I get snippy. But that's only because I'm not sure about them. When my 3 foster sisters and brother came running up to greet me that first day, I wasn't happy and I let them know it too. But in no time at all we became friends. Now we play chase (I get the zoomies), share bowls, and even sit next to each other without incident. I often give them lots of kisses on the face too. But the one thing I'm really afraid of is thunderstorms. I sit in my crate shaking.

I'm still working on not going potty in the house and I really feel bad when it does happen. But I just haven't figured out how to tell them yet.

And speaking of outside, I have a high prey drive. The first thing I have to do when I go out is check the yard for critter scents. I feel it's my job to rid the yard of all those pesky little things. I caught a chipmunk one day, but foster mom and dad weren't very happy about it and I don't know why. I thought I was doing them a favor. My foster sisters and brother thought what I did was so cool that they had to do it too over the next couple of days. Two chipmunks and a vole down, ? left.

I sleep in my crate most of the time, even when I don't have to. But, sometimes when foster mom is watching tv, I find a comfy spot on the couch or chair and curl up for a nap. I stay in my crate when no one is home or able to watch me. Sometimes I will howl when I'm in there and they can hear me all the way outside with the windows shut. But I don't do it for very long. Oh, I sometimes get possessive with my crate, not to humans, just to other dogs. I'll growl under my breath if they are near it, whether I'm in there or not. But I may be getting over that too since foster mom hasn't heard me do that in a while. I also eat in my crate since I'm a slow eater and no one else around here is.

I'm not a cuddler. But when I'm scared, you can pick me up, hold me close, and give me lots of lovin's, I really like that and I might even start to fall asleep.

I haven't had much experience with kids, but I seem to like them if they are still and gentle with me.

I'm looking for a forever family who'll be willing to work with me to get over my fears so I can become a confident little girl. I'd also like to have another dog with my energy level who likes to play, or at least someone who would run and play with me everyday.

Thanks for listening and I hope to see you soon. I'll be waiting.
