My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tanner’s adoption fee is $350.
Tanner is a cute Shih Tzu mix weighing around 15lbs and although we’re not sure about his age, it is felt he is between 6-8 years old. He has a long body with a tail that cutely curls up against his lower back. He possesses deep, round, penetrating eyes that are adorable. At times he will follow you around but at other times he is perfectly content with snoozing on the couch by himself. However, he will also love to cuddle up next to you or lie on your lap and stare up at you with affection.
Tanner loves to chew on his toys - he needs hard chew toys as he has very strong teeth. One of his favourite things is a rope toy, and he will enjoy playing tug of war with you. Tanner is a very playful dog and belies his age as he can be as frisky as a puppy.
Despite having been through some obvious tough times and experiencing a skin condition which he is recovering well from, Tanner has no real physical or behavioural issues. He’s neutered, up to date on vaccines and micro chipped. Tanner is house trained and a well behaved and adaptable dog. He is fine with visitors and will even cuddle with them if they so desire. He enjoys going for leisurely walks except when it is too cold out (his hair is just starting to grow in on the lower part of his body). On walks he doesn’t get overly excited when he meets other dogs or strangers.
Tanner can be vocal and will bark on occasion. When he does so, there is no need to call in the Dog Whisperer for a translation. The barking is usually a sign he wants one of four things: to go out, to play, to be fed or to get fresh water. A firm command to “stop” will quieten him. Still, Tanner may be best suited for an environment where his infrequent barking would not disturb the neighbours. He is fine sharing a home with another friendly, gentle dog, but that will not prevent you as his owner from receiving undivided attention from him.
While Tanner can be very playful, he could benefit from training in basic commands like sit, stay and come. This training could be done in a formal class or by his owner at home. He would also benefit from learning how to fetch a ball to burn off energy. Tanner might even enjoy an agility class as he does like jumping and running around.

To conclude one could say Tanner’s favourite activity next to playing is to snuggle up next to you, lie on his back and let you pet, stroke and scratch him to no end. The love he shows in those adorable eyes of his when you do this will speak volumes to you.
