My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET PATTY -

Patty is a 7 month old, long haired, black and tan Dachshund puppy. Sweet little PATTY is doing well now, but has had a rough start to her little life. She displays behaviors which lead us to believe that she was severely mistreated (follows the ODR, inc male volunteers all over the rescue and sit behind heads when on the couch. She is just starting to trust females, but it is slow. She doesn't yet know how to play and is very nervous when her person is not in the room - she looks all over for you). PATTYis house and dog door trained. She is crate trained and never barks. She is just starting to put weight on. This sweet little girl needs a lot of love and patience, but she will become a wonderful pet for a Dachshund savvy family. Hopefully with continued, love and patience, she will truly start trusting a woman again. PATTY will do best in a quiet household with a stay at home parent (retired/work from home)- (perhaps with a young, neutered, male Dachshund).

Like all Dachshunds, PATTY is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, PATTY needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give PATTY a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
