Facts about Bishop

  • Breed: Boston Terrier
  • Color: Black - With White
  • Age: Senior
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Male
It’s been nearly a year since I arrived at BTRNC. When I showed up, I was pretty sick and it took a little time to find out just what the heck was happening. Turns out I have diabetes (but don’t let that deter you). My foster mama can educate anyone about diabetes (she’s a vet tech). She will alleviate any concerns you might have and answer all questions. The best news is that I require only one shot a day, no special diets or unusual care. I don’t need extra medications or treatments that are expensive or time consuming. I’m a healthy boy in all other ways with the sweetest personality to match. Please don’t pass me up because I have an illness (maybe someone who has diabetes will adopt me? We can be twins! And they'll understand me). Read on and see for yourself that I’m deserving of a forever home. Love, Bishop

Age: 7-8 years old

Weight: 28.6 pounds

Health: Diabetic but otherwise very healthy. Requires one injection of Vetsulin a day

Demeanor: Sweet, affectionate, quiet/mellow, timid (at first), playful with other dogs (not toys), social, curious, active (at times), couch potato (at times)

Likes: Giving kisses and snuggling, being held, going for walks and car rides, chewing bones, eating treats, burrowing, sitting in laps

Dislikes: None

Manners: Crate trained, housebroken (with occasional accident), wears belly bands to bed a night, leash trained

Fenced Yard: Required

Tidbits: Initially, Bishop was shy and timid upon arrival. He is not a demanding fellow but he will politely ask for some affection. He is learning how to interact with both people and dogs (and doing very well). He is content to sit next to you on the sofa and loves to sleep snuggled up next to you in your bed. Playing with toys are not his thing but chewing a bone makes his day. If adopting a true gentleman is what you wish, Bishop is the answer.

The adoption fee for this dog is $150.00 which includes altering, heartworm testing, vaccines, micro-chipping, harness, leash and identification tags. This dog is being fostered in a private home and is not available for viewing.

About Boston Terrier Rescue of North Carolina

About Our Rescue Group...

BTRNC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) all volunteer North Carolina based animal rescue organization. Since 2003, BTRNC has rescued, rehabilitated, and provided adoption for Boston Terriers in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia.

BTRNC removes Boston Terriers from abuse/neglect situations, owner surrenders, animal shelters, other animal welfare organizations, or otherwise without an owner. BTRNC then places rescued Boston Terriers in qualified foster homes and provides all necessary medical treatment, including heatworm testing and treatment and vaccinations.

BTRNC works diligently to find suitable homes for all of its dogs available for adoption.

BTRNC supports the control of pet overpopulation through the spaying/ neutering of rescued Boston Terriers prior to their placement with adoptive families.

BTRNC solicits and receives donations from the general public and its members.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our dogs are fostered in private homes and are not available for viewing. BTRNC occasionally participates in adoption and other events where some of its dogs are present.

Our Adoption Process...

Those interested in adopting from BTRNC must complete an application which is available on its website, www.btrnc.org. If the application meets the specifications stated in the application and if BTRNC has or expects to have a dog that meets the applicant's specifications, its adoption coordinator will contact the applicant to further review and discuss the application. The adoption coordinator will also contact the veterinarian provided as a reference, and one of our volunteers may complete a home visit to meet the applicant and evaluate the applicant's home.

The fee for adoption is:
$400 for puppies 6 months old and younger
$350 for dogs over 6 months and under 8 years old
$150 for dogs 8 years old and older.

The adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, heartworm testing and treatment, if needed, any other needed medical treatment, microchipping, harnesses, leashes and i.d. tags.
