My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Basil is a 6 year old, male neutered dachshund who is extremely sweet, friendly and affectionate. He loves to be cuddled and will nuzzle into your neck or smother you with kisses.

He is a playful little guy that loves belly rubs and is eager to join you for a nice walk or an enjoyable car ride. He is comfortable in the car and travels well. Basil knows a few commands such as "sit" and "shake a paw" and is able to perform them exceptionally well when he knows that he will be rewarded with a treat.

Basil loves to curl up on his blanket or in your lap where he feels safe and secure. He also enjoys burrowing under blankets and will curl up and fall asleep like this. He sleeps peacefully and soundly in a crate during the night and is happy and excited to get up and going in the morning.

He is protective of his "people and home" but does get along with other dogs. He may do better in a home where he is the only pet. Basil is house trained however if he is left unattended or alone for long periods of time he may have the occasional accident.

Basil loves people and let's you know when you have company by greeting them at the door with a hearty welcoming bark.

He is ready for his forever home where he will be an excellent companion and can be loved and spoiled.
