Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sweet Alice was found stray and brought to a local shelter where it was noticed right away that she had a large mass on one of her legs that was making it difficult for her to walk. Everyone was sure her family would find her but when they didn't we took her in and off to be seen at one of our vets right away.At the vet we found out the mass was just fat but taking it off would be a challenge due to its size and recovery may be tough due to her age. Alice also has a heart murmur which could complicate anesthesia. Well, Alice did perfect during surgery and felt better immediately since it was much easier for her to move around!
Now Alice is looking for a family to help her enjoy her golden years. Our vet guesses Alice to be around 10-12 years old but she sure doesn't act like it! She really does enjoy all of her naps but her foster family also catches her running through the house with squeaky toys! They say she has some of the best manners they have ever seen. Alice does not jump up, does not get on furniture, doesn't counter surf and rarely barks....it doesn't seem that can be true for a beagle but we promise it is! The next step in her process is to shed a few pounds and regain her girlish figure!
Alice would really love to be an only dog and soak up all of the attention and give you little kisses. She lives with many other beagles but doesn't think she should have to share her dog beds with any of them and makes sure they hear about it when they try! However, she is just fine with other dogs as long as they don't insist on being her best friend!
Alice does have a limp and has developed arthritis but it doesn't stop her from doing anything as long as she gets her daily arthritis medication. She does also take daily heart medications but is also doing great with those. A house with many steps is not ideal for Alice nor is a family that is looking for a dog to go on long walks. Alice sure does enjoy car rides though!
