My name is Raj. I’m estimated to be a 4 year old poodle….and I am super shy. It takes me a long time to even make eye contact with new people – I came to NBS Animal Rescue with my other poodle friends (Berni, Penny and Aimee) in terrible condition too. My skin is still sore, and I don’t have much fur. Thankfully, my friends at NBS said they would make sure I always have warm blankets, and I can use potty pads until I have my own fur coat to go outside in. When they found me, I had a hernia – and my paw was swollen several times the size it should have been. It hurt so badly, I could hardly walk. It turns out I was neglected so much, that my dew claw curled under into – and out of my paw. The people at the veterinarians office had never seen a nail grown in so badly before. Thankfully, they surgically removed it, and with the help of medication and puppy prayers – I can walk on it again. I’m doing pretty good now that I know what it is like to have a full tummy. Now that my body is on it’s way to recovery –I’m looking for a home that is willing to help me fix my heart so I can learn to love and trust again. Could that be with you? If I am too shy of a dog for you, won’t you please share my photo with a friend, so I might find a home to call my own someday?

P.S. I will need a home without children under the age of 8, as sudden movements scare me. My new family will also have to have a potty plan in place to make sure I get let outside every 4-5 hours or so during day time. I'm not comfortable on a leash yet so I would prefer a home that either has a fenced yard or a family that can take their time to help me be comfortable going outside to potty on a leash.
Here are the helpful steps in applying!
1.) Visit www.NBSAnimalRescue.com happy to adopt me. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you, and whatever other pets you have in the home to make sure we all get along. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to do the next steps too. : )
2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release info about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.
3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.
My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!
Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your vet). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.
