My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"For me, Christmas morning had no gifts or games.
I was lost, & no one was looking or calling my name.
In the cold, on foot I traveled, who knows how far?
To my misfortune, it seems I was struck by a car.
My body ached, & my jaw had been broken.
My tail was missing, & my face split open.
To make matters worse, I could barely see
How could this happen to a good boy like me?
There was no one to help, all were safe in their homes.
Limping, I thought, “I’ve never been so alone”…

I was going to give up, but would you ever guess?
Rescue friends were driving by, from NBS!
They took me to doctors, the best in their field.
They told me, “Don’t worry – your wounds will be healed”
While my body recovers, they will look for a home,
So I can have a family to call my own.
To some, I may have a “cone of shame”,
But to me it is freedom from homelessness & pain.
Because of your help, NBS answered my plea.
Thank you for supporting dogs like me.

Well, now that you know my story – I can tell you a little more about me. I’m a young boy, best guessed to be a lab/shepherd/boxer/bully mix. I’m only about 40lbs, but I have super long legs! Although I did not have a very easy Christmas, I’ve been doing very well. In my foster home, I get along with the other playful dogs, and have met all sizes. I like to wrestle and play tug of war with other goofy dogs. There is a kitty here too, I keep trying to get her to play with me by bringing her toys, but she doesn’t seem to know doggy games. I love to go for walks, am 100% potty trained, and I know “sit, lay down, fetch, and leave it…”. Pretty much, I’m a good dog! I am still working on not jumping on people when I get excited. I'd probably do best in a home with kids 12 or older, because I am still working on my that whole jumpy thing. That one is hard, but if you’ve got the treats? I’ve got the skills! I’m also good for car rides, never jump on furniture, and love to hug my humans. Really, I do! If you lay on the floor with me, I will wrap my paws around you and hold you close.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food.

Do you think I might be the perfect addition to your family and want to meet me?? Please:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out an online adoption application and we will start processing your application right away! We do require that persons interested in meeting me apply online and be approved as an adopter first so please visit our website and submit your application today!

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pets veterinary history.

3.) Call your references and let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number as they will be speaking with a member of our team as a personal references.

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on it's vaccinations and heartworm preventative as well as spayed/neutered unless there is a documented medical reason on file with your veterinarian. Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and will fill out an adoption application right away, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family. Would you please help me by sharing my picture and information on your Facebook page, or e-mail to your friends and family members? I'm a great pup and I really deserve a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
