Sylvester may be a little shy when first approached, but he LOVES attention from people! He enjoys being petted and lounging on your lap. He's quiet around the other cats, but they seem to like him. He is used to being around a family environment as well as dogs. Born in 2013, Sylvester came to us as a stray. He's in perfect health and ready for a home to call his own.

Please email us only regarding the adoption of our rescues. We are very sorry but we simply do not have time to return everyone's phone calls as we are a very small and all volunteer group who also work full time jobs. We will return your emails however in a timely fashion.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter. Please email to get an adoption application for me emailed to you. You will be so glad you did. Be sure to write SYLVESTER in the subject line of the email.

If you cannot adopt but you would like to help you can make a donation or sponsorship to defray the cost of our high vetting bills please mail donations to: EARS, 2 Fancher Ave, Salamanca, NY 14779. You are also able to make donations via Pay Pal to us at We are in need of help for our spay and neuter clinics and emergency angel fund as more and more animals need our help off the streets and back country roads! Any amount is greatly appreciated!!! Did you know that your donation to EARS is also tax-exempt? That's just an added bonus to helping a homeless animal in need!

Did you know that sharing saves lives? Please like us on Facebook at Empire Animal Rescue Society to keep up to date with our new rescues and events! Sharing pets via Facebook has saved thousands upon thousands of animals from being put to death in shelters! You never know when one of your friends might be in the market for a new pet! Besides, sharing only takes a few seconds!

Why Adopt? Adopting rather than shopping for your next pet will help to reduce the number of animals euthanized. Adopting a pet actually saves TWO LIVES as you free up space for another animal in need to find lasting love through the wonder of adoption.

You’ll get a pet who is spayed or neutered, vaccinated and healthy. As opposed to purchasing or getting a “free to a good home” pet, you’ll welcome a fully-vetted companion animal in to your life.

Contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of shelter pets are homeless through no fault of their own. Divorce, financial constraints, time limitations and NOT the animal’s health & or behavior are the most common reasons an animal is left homeless.

You’ll save money. Many pets in the shelter system are already spayed or neutered and if not, shelters often receive a discount from their participating veterinarian and passes the savings on to the adoptive family. Also, adoption fees are much less expensive than buying from a breeder or pet store.

About Empire Animal Rescue Society (EARS)

About Our Rescue Group...

Our group was created because there are not many shelters in our surrounding area leaving hundreds and hundreds of stray, neglected and abused animals with nowhere to go and nobody to care for them. Our main goal is to adopt out the animals that we take in and to spay and neuter. We are a group of foster homes therefore the animals are housed in our homes. The animals learn how to be a part of a family with other people and other pets. A few of us in our group also TNR feral cats. We trap, spay or neuter, house them for a week or so until they have healed from surgery and release them again. We do not euthanize any animals that come into our care unless their injuries or health is too poor for them to survive.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Once you have been approved to adopt we schedule appointments to meet our pets in our foster homes. You can also find us at Pet-Co in Clarence, NY every other Saturday. We are often at different festivals throughout the year in our area including the Ellicottville Fall Festival (Oktoberfest.)

Our Adoption Process...

To adopt one of our animals you must email to obtain our adoption application. Be sure to write the name of the animal you are interested in the subejct line of the email so your email does not get lost in our junk mail filter. We will then email you an adoption application back to you. Once you have completed it you must return it via email to us. We will then be in contact with you about the adoption. We all work other jobs and are volunteers so it may take us a day or two to get back to you depending on our work schedules...but don't worry...we will! The donation fees for our puppies and dogs may vary depending on the pet. For an older dog or high maintenance dog (behavioral/medical issues) the fee may be less. If it is a highly adoptable or purebred animal the fee may be slightly more. Generally our dog fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, de-worming and flea control. Remember that pet care and Vet bills are expensive; you must be ready to take on this financial and emotional responsibility. Cat fees also vary and include spay/neuter, flea treatment, de-worming and testing for FeLV/FIV.
