THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT!!!

Initial post 11/20/2015: We have agreed to take in an emergency surrender. A 22 year old Senegal parrot (generic photo below) needs our help! He is kept in a hanging cage (small) with cedar shaving (oils are poisonous for most animals), fed a diet of hamster food (sunflower seeds and ?? Linoic acid buildup and potential disease) and apple cores (cyanide poisoning risk) for most of his life and currently stays in his cage 100% of the time. His elderly owner has a lung disease which is deteriorating and causing him to surrender the bird. With your help we will be able to cover the costs of his first veterinary visit (in years) with disease screening, transportation and rehabilitation. Please consider an emergency fund donation through PayPal (ctparrotrescue@yahoo.com) or through and of the 'Donate' buttons on our website (www.ctparrotrescue.org).
Please no negative comments. Some people just don't know better. At least he has reached out for help now.
Thank you for your support!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Wally, a Stratford Poicephalus (including Senegal and Meyer's) was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Poicephalus (including Senegal and Meyer's) for sale in Stratford, or seeking a Poicephalus (including Senegal and Meyer's) from a breeder in Stratford.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Stratford already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Stratford breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Poicephalus (including Senegal and Meyer's) breeders who help with Poicephalus (including Senegal and Meyer's) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Stratford paves the way for another one to be saved.
