Facts about Caleb

  • Breed: Domestic Longhair
  • Color: Orange Or Red (Mostly)
  • Age: Young
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Long
Caleb is in our “cat barn” program because he is a shy cat. He is a handsome long hair orange cat but he likes to live life just a few steps behind everyone else. You'll see him quietly watching the world go by, but you may be able to entice him out with a treat. DOB: 5/23/15. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations.

Barn cats can earn their keep by suppressing rodent populations and keeping them out of your buildings and barns. The cats can also provide companionship for horses and other livestock. The barn cats will help the property owner, while the property owner provides the cats with a safe place to live.

Potential adopters must still provide daily food and water and provide a safe, dry area for an outside cat to live. Medical care must be provided as needed. In taking in barn cats, you are providing a wonderful and generous gift to these animals that need a safe place to live out their lives.

About Humane Society of McCormick County, Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

The Humane Society of McCormick County is a private, non-profit, no-kill organization formed in September 2000. We are staffed 100% by volunteers and we raise every penny ourselves as we live in a very poor county where 54% of the population is poverty level or below. The county has no money for an animal control officer or shelter. We are all our county has for any help with animals. We approach this problem through our "No more litters....fix your critters" low to no cost spay/neuter program. Over 240 animals have been altered in the first 6 months of 2013 free of charge to those who qualified for it. We are dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, to providing shelter and care for lost and unwanted animals, to implementing educational programs and services, to promoting responsible pet ownership including population control (spaying and neutering are a must), and to placing animals in humane environments. The Humane Society of McCormick County is an advocate for animals - speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves. We are also in the process of building a refuge where animals may live out their natural life without threat to it but we need help with the development. If anyone living in the McCormick area would like to help with this venture, we would truly appreciate it!

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are in the process of fundraising for a spay and neuter / shelter facility. Most of our animals are in foster care or outside pens. Please call or email us to make an appointment or check our website to see our schedule of adoption events.

Our Adoption Process...

The animals in our care urgently need a permanent home where someone can provide individual loving care and attention. Please consider adopting your family pet from the Humane Society of McCormick County. We would require that you sign an adoption agreement wherein you commit to take proper care of the pet. The adoption fee is $90 for dogs and $60 for cats. Every animal has been given all appropriate vaccinations. Every animal that is old enough has been spayed/neutered.
