Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mika is a precious little, 10 pound, female Shih Tzu. Her soft non-shedding coat is a lovely tan and white. She is young, born in May 2013, we do not know the exact day. Mika arrived at the Safehouse on 01/18/2016. She was picked up as a stray by animal control and turned over to another shelter on 12/16/2015. Her owner, identified by the expired rabies tag found on her collar, was contacted. While waiting for her owner who made several appointments to pick her up (and, who, by the way, never showed up to claim her) Mika was caged with a larger dog. For over a month, the two dogs were on restricted incarceration and forced to eliminate in their shared cage. Poor little Mika received the worst of this confinement and became covered with excrement from the larger dog. The unsanitary holding conditions these dogs were forced to endure lead to severe illness and infection. By the time we were able to rescue Mika she had a severe upper respiratory infection and needed immediate medical care. Sadly she was also a stinky filthy matted mess. We work with the most amazing groomers and vet and as you can see from her photos, Mika is now clean and comfortable; an amazingly friendly playful loveable little girl. We snuggle her to help her understand she is safe. Mika has recovered and is doing very well. She is healthy, spayed, microchiped, current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative, and ready for adoption. Her adoption fee is $300.
