My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Harley, and I'm the best AKC bullmastiff ever!

My birthday is 7 Jul 07, and I may weigh up to 100 lbs some day!  I am a BIG girl :)

My first family bought me from an AKC breeder as a baby and raised me around their small girls, pom pup, and miniature horse.  Unfortunately, they were unexpectedly transferred out of the country and couldn't take me with them, so I wound up in rescue.

I am a fantastic girl, but a bit stubborn and alpha as are traits of my breed, and unfortunately I think small puppies are squeaky toys.  I'm not trying to hurt them, but I play WAY too rough with them and can't be left alone with them EVER!  I even tried to take one out of my foster mom's arms, and boy was she mad at me for a little while :(  I'm fine with other small dogs, though, just as long as they don't squeak when I try to play.  I do tend to be alpha with other big dogs, so I should probably be the only large dog in my new home unless it's possibly a large male (my best friend in my foster home is a male dane pup about the same age I am).

If you're interested in adopting me, you MUST do your research about my breed ... I am not for the novice dog owner and require gentle but firm discipline.  I can't go to a home where I might be able to take over as the pack leader as that wouldn't be good for me or my new family.

I am crate trained, and my foster mom says obedience training with my new family is a must unless they've successfully had bull mastiffs before.  And please don't let the fencing fool you; I am an INSIDE COMPANION PET and not a yard or guard dog -- my foster mom just can't get me to stay back far enough to take a decent pic if I'm where I can be right next to her instead :)

Oh, and my adoption fee is set in the same range as the bull mastiff rescue's adoption fees ($300 - $400); that way I'm not less expensive and more likely to get adopted than their fosters and we all have an equal chance at finding our forever homes :)

My foster mom has my AKC papers, but they aren't transferable as my previous owner accidentallly endorsed them incorrectly, but my new home will get a copy of them if they like.
