My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Northern California Weimaraner Rescue, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Please visit www.norcalweimrescue.org to fill out our online Adoption Application

DUKE, approx. 5 y/o male Weimaraner. This beautiful boy is seeking a home with people who will shower him with affection, and get him out for lots of exercise. He found his current home three years ago when he walked onto their porch and wanted to stay. His people tried to find his owner but he was never claimed. As much as his people love him, they have physical limitations that prevent them from getting Duke out for daily exercise. Duke has been around children at home and in public with no problems. Duke is protective of his people and property and will alert whoever is home that someone unfamiliar is approaching. He can be a little tentative when meeting new people and experiencing new things, so he needs a gentle person to support and encourage him. Duke will benefit greatly from obedience training to boost his confidence and bond with you. He loves to eat so training with treats will be a positive experience for everyone (he really likes ice cubes but they are not so good for training.) Duke enjoys the company of other dogs and gets along with all kinds of different sized dogs.If he is to be left at home without his people, he may need a dog buddy to keep him company. Duke has a strong prey drive so he cannot live with cats, and his people must be diligent about keeping him on leash when in the neighborhood. But, he would LOVE to run off leash on trails and play-hunt in the bushes! Duke gets very excited when it's time for a car ride! No doubt he was loved and well cared for the first three years of his life; he loves being petted, massaged, and allows ear cleanings and nail trims. Duke tends to get ear infections if his ears are not cleaned (at home) weekly. This problem might be addressed through his diet, and NCWR will recommend different foods for you to try. Duke is neutered, recently tested heart worm negative, micro-chipped and current on vaccines. Duke is in Sanger. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Duke, please fill out an APPLICATION.
Adoption fee is $250.
